Dog owners realize the intelligence inherent in their pets.
People who train dogs to help handicapped people know how easily they learn and how dependable they can be. If a dog must be the eyes or ears of his or her human companion, they must be totally trustworthy. Dogs are even used to detect land mines in formerly worn-torn countries.
When dogs get older, it’s important to keep them mentally stimulated by teaching new tricks and presenting them with different toys. That old adage is certainly not true, because teaching an aging dog a trick or two will keep him happy and feeling young.
