Tails are one of the best ways to figure out the kind of mood your dog is in. A wagging tail, of course, is a sign of happiness. People are so tuned into this that when a strange dog is encountered, we tend to look at the tail to determine the dog’s mood, and whether or not we should feel nervous!
But have you noticed that a dog happily greeting his owner holds his tail high when he wags it, and even though it may still wag when greeting strangers, the tail is more parallel to the ground?
And of course, if the tail is between the back legs, the dog is feeling quite upset, probably expecting to be yelled at for some misdemeanor. Even then, it may still wag!
